moon cycles

Am working on an astrology calendar and was inspired to do this series of moons. I would love to add lots of stars and constellations to this… stay tuned.
What is it about me and moons? I am mesmerized when I look at it and always feel like there is something that I am on the verge of understanding.
Mermory lane:    In 1969, when I was about 4 years old I learned the poem ‘starlight starbright first star I’ve seen tonight, I wish I may I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight…’ . I often heard tale of ‘the man in the moon’ and remember trying to  make out this face in the gravel that everyone but me seemed to so clearly see. And what about that strange dog who jumps over it. Why? The references to the moon in my childhood seemed to sprout from everywhere.
Then all of the sudden, my mother tells me that the president will be sending up some astronauts who were going to go up and stand on it. What was an event, a folktale or what was just business as normal on earth? How can a 4 year old tell the difference?
I am convinced that these events and references impacted my deep yearning to ‘get’ the gist of the moon. I guess as long as it is hanging there it will keep me guessing.
