Big Party to celebrate 40th birthday of school
So this is practically the final version. I still want to lay down the type and probably find tune some colors here and there. Will be made into an invitation and posters. Here are the digital teasers for the event.

sketch for upcoming party
This is a sketch for a school’s 40th birthday party. I tried to make it light and cheery to appeal both to kids and parents. I had a lot of fun doing it.
This is the first time I have ever drawn architecture from a real place and it was a huge challenge. I am very happy with myself. The tree is in the style of Sempe as I couldn’t figure out how to do it without overpowering the rest.
It was shown in a recent meeting and seems to have been well received. I can’t tell you how nervous I was because there were more than 10 people looking at my drawing and they were very competant and well-spoken mothers from the school. I kind of felt like a fool standing there with my picture. I felt really very childish. It is a tricky position to be an artist.
Now I just have to add color which will also be tricky but the hardest part of all– the lines– are done.
